Hello again. A lot of positive interest and feedback was given to my diary
Introducting the NLF: The Newbie/Lurker Forum and I want to share some of that with you, plus there is a poll relating to the who-what-when, etc of a regular Forum diary.
Before I do that, I want to continue to encourage our veteran Kossacks to check out the Forum and if they can, lend their experience and expertise!
There were a lot of great tips in the first NLF, my personal favorite (and a hat's off to my buddy Cosmic Debris) has to be
Soj's Diary Soj's "Old Tyme FAQ and Jamboree I highly recommend clicking on "Subscribe" and saving that puppy-I even printed out a paper copy for my Daily Kos book (of my postings and other people's as well.)
Besides Soj's comprehensive diary, I highly recommend you check out the daily diary Cheers and Jeers which is hosted by Bill in Portland Maine, or BiPM for short. Bill generally posts the diary between 9 am and 10 am (CST) Monday through Friday. Here is a link for an example, then you can subscribe to Bill's diaries too!Cheers and Jeers Now, you will hear Cheers and Jeers referred to around DailyKos in a variety of ways, mostly positive and generally pretty accurate, from "insane mojo rave" to "the kiddie pool". To which I say, "whatever"...:-). The Irregulars, as we are known (yes, I am one of them), are a genial and friendly group, sharing stories, pictures, and fun. But, it should also be noted, I have learned a LOT in there about current events, political facts and figures, and been introduced to great new sources of information. So, it's worth your time, and you'll meet some really nice, genuine people.
Before I talk about other helpful diaries, remember, when you click subscribe on a diary, that person's diaries will be listed in your hotlist.
You can then see if the diarist has put out anything new you may have missed. And if for some reason you wish to take them off your hotlist-you simply click on the (-) space by their name.
Another suggestion culled from the first NLF diary is to let you know some other diarists who are informative and have a generally great atmosphere to their threads. Here are some of my favorites:
pastordan's "You Mean Lisa?" is his latest diary. pastordan is, as you may have guessed, a minister. He and his wife (Mrs Pastor) are also very cool people who embrace people of all walks of life.
Carnacki also composes some great diaries, for example Got a Happy Story VIII? which I believe generally comes out on Fridays or the weekend.
Oh..and ask him about his vampire stories...if you dare! mwahahahhahaha!
If you are GLBT or GLBT concerned, pamindurham prints regular updates for the GLBT community. The last one I have on my favorites list: Wingnut: if Repugs don't shape up, vote Dem or third party pam stays very in the know on these issues.
These are just a few of the diarists on here, and they are also great places to meet up (at least online, and possibly, eventually, in person :-)) with your fellow Kossacks, share some and learn even more.
So, that's my tip for the week, I guess you'd call it "Diary Shopping".
Also, don't forget to check out the link on your home page to the Dkosopedia for lots of informative stuff that helps make Daily Kos more useful for you.
Be sure to take the poll question. TTYL!
